Subject: Edward D. Demko (Cleveland)

I am looking for information about my father, Edward Demko. He passed away last week. For years we have been trying to find information about his time in service. He was very reluctant to discuss what he did. He personally received two bronze stars and his unit received the Presidential Unit Citation. In contacting Washington, we were told that his records were destroyed in a fire and that they had nothing to provide. I know that during his time in the USAAF he was stationed in India, Australia and China. He talked about "flying the hump" but provided more stories about his antics than the missions (like visiting a horse racing track in India with a group of buddies and getting to ride one of the race horses - - sound familiar to anyone?) Any information that anyone can provide would be GREATLY appreciated. I'd like to collect what I can and give it to my mother as a remembrance. There is a current obituary that can be viewed online at Cleveland.com (publication date 4/23/08. Much appreciation to anyone who can help.
