Hi Lou and Virulent
Thank you Lou for the suggestion, I can tell you are trying to help, however I have no intention of censoring the chat here as I believe that freedom of speech is very important even when offensive things are being said. It is not up to me to monitor what people say. I just encourage people to try and say it a civil manner (it is much more efficient that way too and more stuff gets done). Plus this board is fairly low tech. I don't have a function like the one you describe available to me. Pretty much my only moderation option is to delete whole threads, which as I said I am loathe to do.

I think we agree on this one Virulent. I can tell you are a passionate person.

I am sorry but I haven't seen your email Virulent, could you try sending it again. I have a pretty stiff spam filter and it may have got junked. Did you use my PAN address or my private (wefneckAThotmailDOTcom) one? Pop an obvious subject on it so it stands out and I can grab it.

If you wish to help out we run regular workshops that can teach you how to run the basic ritual on the hill. The workshop focuses on the particulars of the foundation ritual that PAN uses, the mundane stuff like safety, logistics and legalities of running a public ritual, the guidelines for creating special rituals for PAN (so they are not all the same) as well as useful energy work, voice and circle casting skills. At the end of the workshop participants can choose to come back at a later date and do a practical assessment and be invited to join the Full Moon Subcommittee. The subcommittee is the dedicated team of people that host the Full moons and liaise with guest groups when they run rituals on the hill. The workshop is free for PAN members and $5 for non-members (to cover the cost of printing notes). It runs for a full day on a Saturday. I am currently getting together a few people and dates and we should be running the next one in the next month or so.

You might not want to get involved to that degree, but you can always contact me and brainstorm a few ideas for a new ritual on the hill (I am running the December one, maybe a midsummer theme?). It gets hard for the team sometimes thinking up creative and new things for the Hill all the time and some outside inspiration would be grand. You could also volunteer to call a quarter or another spoken part at any of the moons. Even help carrying things up and down the hill is appreciated.

The ritual and its energy is not something that can be carried by the hosts alone. As much as we try it is not possible to get people to raise energy and contribute it to the circle unless they are open, willing to participate and feel comfortable doing so. To do that we need a strong and flexible ritual format but more importantly, as many volunteers as we can get. Not just the people who stand in the front of the crowd leading the ritual, but those people who quietly invest themselves in the ritual, who want to see it work, who do the little friendly things that bring a bunch of strangers together in a fleeting but strong group mind. It is those people who carry the ritual and those people I thank every time the ritual 'works'.

So even if you don't want to do anything physical in the ritual Virulent you and everyone else could help immensely simply by believing in it.

Thanks
Jo

>Dear Lou,
Your posting smacks at the heart of free speak. How can it be free speech if a poor overworked moderator (or even a cpu program) has to sort through every mailing to make sure "hateful or derogatory" wordinds dont slip through the cracks.
I agree these cpu programs do exist, I personally had to use one on a website I used to run that got over run by hoards of idiotic Christians trying to 'bait the sinning witches'. But I found I was losing a lot of interesting posts because the program dumped everything with the words that Id programmed into it to look out for.
A.s.i.o. uses something similar when looking for postings that use the words like 'bomb'. Rather unfortunate don't you agree if it was someone trying to sell you a car that was a bit of a bomb, but apart. from a few minor mechanical problems ran well.
I was a bit of a posting freak over the past two weeks, but as Jo will attest I have apologized to those that I feel deserve it. I have even explained my actions, and as yet am still waiting for a reply from Jo as to how, if in anyway I can help out.
So please don't suggest methods that censor postings that simply don't work, unless you wish to hold your hand up for the position of 'postings censor', then please contact Jo as moderator or whoever runs this site and offer your assistance.
But I guess then you would have to be totally unbiased :}
