My personal opinion is that Pagan Satanists is a made up thing driven by those who are attached to monotheistic beliefs and most likely, rebelling against the mainstream.

An upside down Pentacle is really about a high status of Witch. Those who wear them as Satanists are merely practicing an opposite of say, Christianity which has nothing to do with paganism.
