Randall...you do a lot of research about Tech and its surroundings and knew about #8. Wonder if you could tell me about #10, my elementary school, which I think was torn down for interstate construction. Was curious as to when this happened, as have not lived in Indy for a long time.
Appreciate anything you know. I doubt if there are any others out there still who attended #10.

Evelyn, If you will email me your personal email address with your present home address, I have something that I want to mail to you. I prefer to keep it a surprise.

No I dare say there could be many still living that attended IPS # 10. I'm thinking it was open until sometime in the 1960's but not sure.

It was very near where the Interstate came though Indianapolis.

Cost or Estimated Value of Sites; $15,250.00
Cost of Buildings and Improvement: $32,043.00

Number of rooms: 14

Number of seats: 483

How seated? Single Seats

How Heated: Grossius Heaters (Individual Stoves heated with wood or Coal in each room)

Value of Furniture and School Apparatus: $3,744.60

Total value of property: $51,037.60

I'm not positive, but I dare say this school served IPS for around 95 years. I could find out for sure, but IPS has boxed up all the books that have this information. These books are not available to use for reference presently, or who knows if ever they will be. :-(

IPS School #10 was phased out in 1968.

To John F. Wythe...I see that your message on the subject of #10 did not make it on here, but was interested in what you had to say about my old school

I attended school #10 in the 5th grade in 1952, I remember my favorite teacher was Mr McPherson. That year I was introduced to politics. Eisenhower and Stevenson were the candidates for President. We had debates in the classroom at that time about who we wanted to be president and why. Just for your information, I voted for the General. I enjoyed School #10.
