Subject: John J. Runciman Class of 1939 Obituary

John J. Runciman, Jr. 87, of Fishers, passed away May 22, 2009. He was born June 20, 1921 in Dundee, Scotland to John J. Sr., and Margaret Ferguson Runciman. John was a 1939 graduate of Tech High School. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Pacific Theater as Military Police and photographer. John started his civilian career with Adkins Saw Co. and then as a milkman for Roberts Dairy Co. From there he went on to work for Indiana State Employment Service for 25 years, retiring in 1991. From 1991 until 2006, John was employed with Motive Security Systems. John was a Boy Scout leader, a member of King of Glory Lutheran Church, the Indianapolis Valley Scottish Rite, Masonic Lodge Hamilton #533, and past president of the Fishers Lions Club. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 27, 2009 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Shirley Brothers Fishers-Castleton Chapel, 9900 Allisonville Rd., with funeral services Thursday at 11:00 a.m. John is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Anna J. Runciman; son, Doug Runciman (Denise); daughter, Dana Stacey (Charles); stepsons, William Princell (Judy) and John Princell (Catherine); stepdaughters, Barbara Stevens and Patricia Daggy; brother, Robert Runciman; son-in-law, Dennis Maddox; 16 grandchildren, 16 plus great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. John's first wife, Helen Wells Runciman, and daughter, Janet Maddox, preceded him in death. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of choice.
