Subject: Kayaking / Camping Adventure - All 50-states.

Beginning in June 2009, I started a 50-state kayaking/camping adventure. How long will it take, I'm asked. Don't know, don't care." If you wish to follow along... check out my new blog.

I'm willing to bet you will like Kayaking in KENTUCKY, better than any of the other states you pursue. Now this is a suggestion that you can take under advisement. You can camp at Audubon State Park at Henderson KY, which is just across the river from Evansville IN. Just up the river from Evansville the mouth of Green River feeds out of the Ohio River dropping south into Kentucky. This river is barge navagible, particularly for the coal mining industry of western Kentucky. Green River meanders all the way to Bowling Green KY, and it has been written that Green River is what geologically formed Mamooth Cave, which is a National Park. Green River also has the distinction of being one of the deepest rivers in the world. In some areas it is more of a creavice which has been measured 270 feet deep, hence some big fish have been caught out of this river.
Yes Green River has a lot of history with includes activity of the Civil War. If you decide to try my suggestion, make your way to Henderson KY and set up a base came at Auduboh State Park. Then I can come down from Indy and stay with relatives in Evansville. I can help, aid, and assist you to "put in" Green River, then offer ground support for pick up. Hence you can see this portion of your agenda come to fruition. Some of my ancestors lived on Green River and I have always been very captivated by it. Oh, the river water is also Green!
