Scott,
The reply to your trailer add is a scam. They send you a fake cashiers check have you send money to someone else and by the time you figure out that the check is not good you have already lost a few thousand dollars.
This scam has been going on for a few years now. It is being done by jerks in other countries. I received one of those checks but didn't send anything, sure enough the check was counterfit. My banker told me that alot of the money that was scamed was traced and believed to be used to finance terrorist activities.
