 if australia wants to do whatever with its money, that's okay, after all that's their money. We shouldn't be crying over money that belongs to someone else. Whether this money is channelled to aussie consultants or companies, after all that is their money.
A wise or the wisest leader should not lead a country that he initiated in nto disrepair.he wisest leader should not turn a blind eye on the incompetent and thievery his wantoks in politics and the bureaucracy are doing.The pressure your wisest man is potraying under the guise and excuse of removal of soverinity and going back to neocolonialism are all bullshits. It is time now we demand greater accountability from these kan bureaucrats and politicians that have raped and corrupt this country instead of relenting and following their false excuses of sovereignity and neocolonialism. This is a clear and suspicuous move to block australia's call for a overall review into the aid money it has been pumbing into png.
What these scumbags are crying over is nothing more than their own self-respect as mp's and bureaucrats.
What ausaid had and have been doing are fair and just asa far as development of vital infrastructure,health, education, human resources,etc are concerned.
I totally support australia call to review the aid.to have proper check on spending with results.The call is long overdue.

I think Somare is doing the right thing. If it means to suffer, let us suffer. We have been heavily dependent for the last 28 years. Thats where people are lazy to work and development progress in our country is very slow.

I WOULD FULLY SUPPORT SOMARE FOR CUTTING OFF AID AND RELY ON OURSELVES.

Well, certainly we don't wanna rely on others. We have been independent 28 years ago and are mature enough to be on our own economically. However, the question now is whether we are practically and geniunely self capable economically of managing our self without any help. And whether the timing is right.And whether the magnitude of the effect can be managable without adverse effect on the lifelyhood of the people.
On the practical outlook economcally we are not ready yet to say no to any foreign aid yet. unless we are economically independent, we will still be dependent on outside help.
I don't want to be seen here as too negative but honestly we don't have anything here to rely on if we say no to outside help. if we are serious now we should start diverting those aid money towards projects that will be the foundation towards economic freedom. Projects such as manufacturing industries,etc,etc,etc.
