Your club should also have some file copies of flyers which explain each machine and could make copies for you. Better yet, ask if there is an alternative way for you to either earn or purchase the member's guide. It should answer your questions and you can then refer to it at home. Maybe they'll let you purchase the book or give you an advance on whatever points or "bucks" you'll be earning for losing pounds and inches (if your club gives out this kind of incentive).

The basic theory of the workout is that you burn calories by physical activity and you are building lean muscle tissue. Modifying your eating by reducing refined sugars and starches is the "diet" part of the program.

Regarding the stretching, I learned that you start out on a recovery station and then do the machines not "all out" for the first few. Then you work them harder, and then you ease up a bit near the end of your workout. The stretching is supposed to be done after the workout. The warmup is by starting out slower on the machines at first.
