OK let me clear up all the confusion and set the story straight. Curves International has authorized a select number of stores to charge the $5 fee to travelers. The reason, although it seems unfair, makes sense. In very high-traffic vacation areas (Hawaii, Martha's Vineyard, Florida) several Curves franchises were getting 50+ traveling members a day wanting to use their facilities. The average Curves being only 1200 square feet, that's a lot of extra people (which equates to a lot of extra resources those particular owners needed to use.) So, the charge is justified, but only in certain cases. The club has to apply through Curves International to get approval to charge the fee. Ever since I read your post I've been trying to find the memo with all the info. on it and I can't seem to find it, but I will try to locate someone you can contact about this if you're suspicious.
