Subject: difficulty checking my heart rate

I know this sounds silly, but when we stop to check our heart rates, I have the hardest time. When I'm sitting down at my desk or at home, and it's quiet, I have no trouble finding it. But when I'm at Curves, and the music is playing, I always end up counting the beat of the music instead of my heart. (I said it was silly.)

I'm wondering if anyone out there uses a heart rate monitor. I found a good quality one (Sports Instruments ECG3) at a great price.

It's got a chest strap thing (that fits under my bra and isn't at all uncomfortable) that sends a signal to the watch and it constantly monitors my heart rate. I can program into the watch what my target heart rate should be, and I can set an alarm that goes off when my heart rate gets out of that range (lots of bells and whistles, but it's nice to be able to just look at the watch and see what my heart rate is).

Anyway... just wondering if anyone else uses anything like this when they work out.
