I too have the heart monitor and love it, but I still move away from the station and try to get the count the other way and compare what I get to what is on my watch.

My concern with not stopping and continuing on the station even though everyone else had stopped to check their pulse is that I may give someone the idea that checking for the pulse was not important. Most don't realize that we wear these monitors.

It was recommended to me that if my heart rate was too high after using a machine, continue on the recovery station, if still too high, wait 10 seconds before using the next machine. I am getting the hang of it.

My target rate is to be 120 but sometimes I am 138 - 144. The owner and instructors had said that as my heart becomes stronger (former smoker of 30 years - quit last September) the heart rate will improve and it will take more work for me to make it go higher.
