Subject: Legs on Ab/Back

Where should you position your legs on the ab/back machine? Some people extend their legs to a position that is horizontal to the floor. Is this the correct technique? The answer is NO. The Ab/Back machine is designed specifically to work the abdominal and lower back muscles. When you extend the legs out and horizontal to the floor you don't gain any extra advantage in working the targeted muscle groups. Instead, this leg positioning will cause your Hip Flexors to become involved. So, to better isolate the targeted muscle groups the legs should simply be rested and hanging in the natural seated position.
