Subject: First Week

I just started going to Curves this last Tuesday, and I have a few questions. The person who showed me around pretty much just showed me how to use the machines and that was that. She told me to "jog in place or really whatever you want" at the stations between machines. She also, and this kind of surprised me, did not tell me about what each machine targets (I know some are obvious, but still) or how it all works, so to speak, meaning how the workouts help you lose weight and get in shape (the theory behind it, if you will).

She also did not really address stretching other than to say "when you are done, there are stretches on the wall you need to do". This does bug me a bit, for several reasons. My daughter is a figure skater (or getting there, at least) and her coach always stresses the importance of stretching BEFORE skating. From what I remember of PE as a kid, the same thing went. You always "warmed up" to prevent muscle strains and sprains. So why are there no pre-stretches?

Lastly, I cant get the member's handbook because I only know three people I could refer, and one of them is currently 7 1/2 months pregnant! Any suggestions here?

Angi
