I encourage you to join. There's no way to predict how much weight you'll lose and how fast, but by not joining, odds are you'll keep gaining weight and feeling worse and worse about yourself.

Call you local Curves and set up an appointment to come in. They'll go over your fitness and health history and help you set some goals. They'll also tell you the prices and the discount for signing up that day. The monthly membership fee varies from club to club--usually $39 per month, with a minimum 1 year committment.

Once you sign up, they'll set up another appointment for you to go back in for your first workout. Someone will teach you how to use the machines. It takes a few times coming in before it all "sinks in." When you first sign up they'll weigh and measure you, and then once a month. Most clubs give some sort of incentive when you show progress (Curves "bucks" to get t-shirts, etc.) You don't have to weigh in out in front of everyone, so you're not embarrassed if you don't make progress every month. I gained a few pounds the first 2 months, but my body fat percentage was going down as I was building muscle.

There's also a Curves Challenge diet program that they can help you with.
