Recently we had a curve-a-thon for charity. The charity arranged everything.

We were open all day and encouraged the members to work out more than twice on the circuit, or to come back later in the day to do another circuit. Each "paid" an entrance fee of R5 (SA rate) or $1. The proceeds went to the charity concerned. We tried to do new fun things like punch on a punch bag (resting stations) suspended from the ceiling. Great fun was had by all concerned. All the staff worked all day and the sign up money made that day went to the charity.

We also have a "thermometer" showing the members weight loss and cms altogether and we donate the total amount to a charity. Different one each month. We then publish the cms and kgs and amount donated in the local newspaper.

Another idea is to have a "tour de france day". Have a cyclist in the centre of the circuit cycling as hard or as slow as the members want.

I would love to hear from anyone else who has amazing ideas to get the members to participate more.
