Hey Adrienne -

-I'm not an owner, but a manager that feels like a co-owner!
I'm pretty sure the population in my territory is much more than 5,000, I would think that it's in the tens of thousands. The thing with Curves is that they divide the territories based on population. So, the area that you're thinking of opening one may very well have a much larger territorry that you anticipate.
-In terms of cash, that can vary widely. I don't have exact figures, but I have a good idea of what my owner makes.
The franchise fee (what Curves International charges you for the rights to a franchise, and the basic equipment) is just under $20,000. Depending on where you set up your Curves and how elaborately you decorate it, your startup will vary. Our owner spent about $50,000 setting up our facility. BUT she spent oodles of unneccesary money on glass desks and tables, expensive contractors for paint and carpet (she even paid someone to hang pictures!)
-Expenses vary too. We provide our members with water (300 members drink about 50 gallons of water a week). You can sell water, etc., etc. So, it all depends on how much money you want to sink back into your facility. Our revenue is about $10,000 a month.
You won't get rich, but you should make SOME money.
hope that helps.

justine.
