I'm not saying you should do this but I skip this machine whenever I can. I used to have the trainer come over every time I was on the machine to watch my technique and even though she said I was doing everything right, it just didn't seem to do anything positive for me.

Here is a GREAT workout for the same area. (The only problem with this is that you need someone to assist you.)

Lie down on a bench longways on your left side with the top part of your body hanging off the end. Get someone to hold your legs (or lightly sit on them) while you "side crunch." Do the same on your right side. You will not believe how much you feel this in your oblique area! The first time I tried this, I could only do 10, and girl, I thought I was going to die the next day!

Also something else you can try: Get a broom stick and place it behind your head extending your arms (in a "T") to hold it in place. Stand shoulder width apart or little wider. Slowly bend to the side as far as you can go and then slowly come back up to the starting position. Do several reps on both sides.

Good luck!
