Subject: Re: 30min of Curves = 1hr30min of regular workout?
In reply to: Jennie 's message, "30min of Curves = 1hr30min of regular workout?" on 15:42:31 03/11/03 Tue

Curves is simply more efficient use of your time. With your 30 minute Curves workout you get a warm-up, strength training, cardio, cool down and stretching. The machines are designed so that you can exercise 2 or more muscle groups at a time, i.e., triceps and biceps. And, you are moving at a pace on the circuit that creates a full cardio workout.

At other gyms, first you warmup for 5-10 minutes on a bike or treadmill. Then, you continue with your cardio work (bike, stepper, treadmill, elliptical, rowing machine) for another 20-30 minutes. Then, you do your strength training. Unfortunately the equipment is not designed so that you can work opposing muscle groups. So, you must do more sets and reps. Thus, your time spent strength training will be another 30-40 minutes. Finally you need to cool down and stretch. Another 5 or 10 minutes. And, then you must account for the time spent to change and adjust equipment and to stop and talk to people during your workout, 5-30 minutes!

Curves is a quicker workout, very fun and you will get results! Since it is a circuit you can still socialize as you exercise without losing time!

Hope this helps.
