Hi. I'm 32 and about 40 lbs overweight. I started last Tuesday and my hr was consistently up around 27 or 28. By my 3rd workout, it was lower, around 23 or 24. I tried to keep it lower by going easier and not jogging at all on the recovery stations. I would either march in place or twist or something like that, but no running and I think that made a difference.

I was also thinking maybe I should go slower on the machines, but then I read on one of the machine instructions that if you want to get your rate down, instead of using the machines slower, hesitate. Like when you first sit down, wait 5 seconds before you begin. That really seemed to work for me. Eventually we can work back up to pushing ourselves harder when we get our heart rates under control. Good luck.
