No wonder we have arthritis . I can recal waking up one morningto a damp mist that smelled like DDT or bug spray. My bunk was on the end of the bldg where I could see the primiter. There was a tractor pulling sprayer along the primitor. The wind was blowing right towards the barracks. The smell woke me up. I walked to the latreen and the mist felt like a fine spray in the wind. I got dressed for the day shift and went to work I asked a supervisor and he thought it was DDT or a bug spray for misquitoes. This happened at least four times on the primoter that I can recal. I only felt the spray once. The day the wind was blowing.Feel free to e-mail me I will clearify any thing I said. Date Posted: 10:35:58 08/06/06 Sun I was stationed at the 7th RRFS(RadioResearchFieldStation) (U.S.Army) from Sept70 til Dec'71. AtThisTime I do not have any of the problems that alot of Thailand Vets are having to deal with. And everyone also needs to know that "it wasn't just the Air Force that was in Thailand"!!!! But the facts remain that we have been excluded and (to put it mildly) THAT'S NOT RIGHT [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 08:08:41 08/19/06 Sat Calling all Thailand Veterans To: "Marilyn Oliver" <themamabear47@yahoo.com> Your help is needed now!!!!! I spoke with Taura King last evening. She has a request, she is asking of you. Your involvement in the Thailand issues, is desperately needed now. All of the Thailand information, was given to Congressman Evans, over a year ago and is sitting on his desk. The only thing that has come out of it, is that the DOD admits to testing AO in Thailand, during 1964-1965. Some of the information that Taura gave him, was government documents, stating spraying was started in 1953. Apparently he hasn't even seen, the Thailand CD. Needless to say, she is quite upset with them and has told them so. For those who have copies of the Thailand CD, please make copies. Hand them out to all Thailand Vets, you come in contact with. Then put your home state on them and send them to Congressman Evans. Along with the cd, write a letter demanding to know what the outcome is, on the Thailand issues. Since he has had all the information for a year. You want to know what is happening, to get the Thailand Vets recognized. As I understand it, they want to single out certain areas of service and for those who were not in the given area, will not be covered. They did this on Korea and it is wrong! The Korean Vets, have a lawsuit pending I believe, to get this changed. Taura's information covers the whole country of Thailand. She has stated to them many times, no area should be excluded. You as the veteran, have to wake these politicans up. You have to flood his Illinois office, with cd's and letters. Demanding that he look at the information and get the ball rolling. It has been passed over, for too long! Those that have retired from the military and collecting benefits, with service in Thailand. Request a cd and do the same to help, your brother in arms. With each new day, I am getting word that more and more veterans, that served in Thailand are ill. With the same service connected diseases, as the Vietnam vets have, as well as those not listed. I am also hearing from their widows, who are left behind to fight the VA, by themselves. All Thailand vets, have to stand together united, in seeing that these issues get taken care of now. You can send your letter and cd to: Moline Office - Congressman Lane Evans 1535 - 47th Avenue, Suite 5 Moline, IL 61265 Galesburg Office - Congressman Lane Evans 261 N. Broad Street, Suite 5 Galesburg, IL 61401 Decatur Office - Congressman Lane Evans 236 N. Water Street, Suite 765 Decatur, IL 62523 Let us make a difference and get the Thailand issues settled. The time is now, to move forward. Thank you for your help, from Taura, Sue, myself and those behind the scenes, that have been working very hard, to push this forward. Blessings Marilyn [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 07:37:08 06/09/07 Sat Greetings to you good people! I am writing on behalf of my husband. We have sure spoken about this issue a lot lately. My husband served In Air Force, security police, was stationed at NKP 71-72. When he got out of the service in 1974, he started having some lung issues. By 1975 he was diagnosed with sarcoidosis, actually his doctor said he head never seen anything like this. He called me to meet him at the doctors office. This doctor looked at us and said he had lesions all over his lungs, and even said it could possibly be hodgkins disease. It was a very alarming time for us. He said there wasnt anything they could do for him. About a year or so later this stuff disappeared. Just vanished! This same doctor said this can happen and would probably return. My husband wondered then if it was do to the pesticide they sprayed while he was there. He said he witnessed it done several times. About 10 years ago he was diagnosed with Type 11 diabetes. He has often said he wondered if what he was exposed to has caused or contributed to his health issue. When he heard about the report you had here, he wasnt surprised at all. He said it's about time they give us some recognition for what we did! Anyway my husband would like to go about signing up for benefits, can you please tell us what and how we shoudl do that? A friend of ours said, Pat owes it to himself to check this out. These benefits are rightfully his. So would someone email us and let us know the process? Our daughter had so much female trouble and always has, just wonder if that could affect her as well? I guess I am asking what is the depth of this agent orange. I know I have heard many nightmare things about this stuff! May God Bless each of you in this indeavor.....and I thank God for your service to maintain my freedom in this land!!!! Not only do I remember the spraying of the perimeter but spraying was also done along the roads between the rows of barracks. The pallets of 55 gallon drums were stationed intransit at the aerial port area yard where I worked. The drums were all collectively wrapped in plastic sheeting while intransit and we were told to stay clear of these drums. Hope this helps. >to the latreen and the mist felt like a fine spray in >the wind.
