That explanation makes good sense.

I just had a boat surveyed, surveyor (Albin Vega owner) scraped antifoul back to gelcoat in 57 places.
All the gelcoat revealed looked good, which is more than can be said for the state of the multiple coats of battered antifoul.

I said to the surveyor that the task for the coming winter was to remove all the antifoul, epoxy, and re antifoul.

Which brings me to the point, he had an interesting opinion, saying that antifoul primer he had found was the hardest coating of all to remove, including epoxy, and suggested a couple of coats of antifould primer instead.
