Paul,
Now that I no longer have a Trapper, plus the fact that my entire summers are spent afloat where I have no Internet access (probably a blessing), I don’t visit this forum too often. Therefore, I had not earlier seen your posting but was directed to it on my return this week by a private mail so feel I should respond to one of your points, viz.: “There is an inferance that I lied about the length.”

I can only infer that your comment is referring to my private Trapper web page: http://homepage.hispeed.ch/bhny/Trappinit.html which has nothing to do with this forum or the Trapper site maintained by Nick Michener that comes close to representing an official Trapper site. In fact there is not even a link to my pages in the Link Page on Nick’s site, so in no way can it be implicated.

I had set up the page back in 1996 with my thoughts and impressions of my own Trapper 500 plus a potted history of what I knew and had trawled from the web on the marque, including your own mails to me personally. It is true that in mentioning your name as MD of Trapper Yachts under Deacons ownership there may have been an implication that you were responsible for the length misrepresentation that I discussed in that paragraph and, if so, then I sincerely apologise. I have removed your name from the page and regret any discomfort it may have caused you.

I can only join others in thanking you and your family for bringing such a fine yacht to the British market, one that I enjoyed sailing for 24 years and look back on with tremendous affection and appreciation of its design.

Best regards,

Brian.
