We had our maiden voyage in Jessie this weekend - it was brilliant. With 5 people onboard tacking up the Beaulieu River in perhaps a 4/5 (no instruments yet) we had one reef and the working jib and were heeling a lot and going like a train! As there'll usually only be two of us we are planning to get roller furling and also hanks on the main instead of the luff groove arrangement it has, which is not easy to manage.
Many thanks for the comments on storage - will look out for these sock bags - have not been aware of them, and will also think through and maybe follow your cave lockers idea. We also found that the shallow trays held the contents ok. But on the galley side allowing for the folding back cooker cover meant you couldn't use them fully. We got a tiny folding table from IKEA for £6 which stows behind the steps and is just big enough for two plates and a wine bottle ...
Steep learning curve - fantastic fun, lovely boat!
