Ocean Air has a different keel casting, without a box on top, but I assume the hull moulding is the same. (ish? I think Northshore built mine).

I have two angle iron plates, each profiled to match the keel casting on the bottom, that are bolted into a recess in the hull moulding. The keel sits on top of the upstands.

The first year I had the boat, I took the filler out, unbolted the plates, took em out, cleaned them up and reseated them.

The boat was 11 years old at the time and the plates were rusty but otherwise in good physical condition.

I do wonder about the likely interaction of the mild steel(?) plates with the stainless bolts and cast iron keel, but as the keeel lifting tackle is made off when the keel is down I would be unlucky to lose the lot if the angle irons failed anyway.

If you had a serious corrosion problem, I think the filler would be blown under the angle irons. You should be able to feel the thickness of the irons at the bottom of the keel case.

Cheers,

A.
