Hi Mary & Henry,

Azurian sits on soft mud on a drying mooring for all but +/- 2hrs every high water - the bulb goes right in.

I try to avoid drying right out when on board overnight. I mis judged it once off the East end of Canvey and found the ground very hard and was surprised at the angle of heel. OK for scraping half the bottom. I found it uncomforable and was on my own - very glad to hear the tide returning. If the mud is soft it is probably too filthy and dangerous to risk walking ashore.

If the ground is hard one has to hope it does not contain any hard material to cause a point loading on the hull - there can be all sorts of junk in some places if you have not had a look at low water.
