My Trapper T28 with a Yanmar 1GM struggles to get much over 4 knots at full engine revs. I am happy that the engine is producing full power so had assumed it was an undersized prop.

On investigating I found a 13" 3 bladed prop (pitch unknown) with absolutely no clearance between the hull. In fact a small groove has been filed in order to allow free rotation. There is no obvious vibration as a result but could this explain the poor performance?

With a 2.21:1 gearbox ratio I calculated a 11x8 was the suggested size?

I’d be grateful of any experience you may have?
