Nick, an excellent idea to have the cockpit runoff through the transom, and relatively easy to implement. Hhmmm, let's see that worklist, maybe next winter....
However, there IS a snag (there always is, isn't there?). With normal trim the cockpit sole drains forward, not aft. Of course, with the weight of a green'un filling the cockpit, the ship will be arse down and the water will roar out, but for normal rain and spray there will be a lot of standing water making a nasty tide-mark. It means constructing (and sealing) a false, forward-raised cockpit sole ... (sudden enthusiasm rapidly wanes).
