I've had the water ankle deep in the cockpit just through the rain in a squall so I'd have thought that if you were heading anywhere with Tropical weather you would want better scuppers.

I've never been pooped by anything serious and I agree in most normal conditions it's very unlikely the scuppers will prove a problem, but I was quite in agreement with the guy who crossed the Atlantic after changing his.

After a knockdown I think the boat would come up with an awful lot of water in the cockpit that was slow to leave.
