Yes I would be intersted to hear a bit more about how you fitted a replacement roller. Mine has been stuck in the past and has needed application of a hack saw blade (the clearance is that slight) to clear it every winter and also I have used a rasp to reduce the diameter of the roller. Somebody told me the nylon absorbs water and gradually expands. I think it is stuck again as the bottom of the hydraulic ram pulled out for the second time and I have just returned from rebolting it.
If you care to call me some time the number is 020 8468 7297. I do have som copies of an old article in PBO some years back describing how an owner replaced his keel box and that was accompanied by some sketches. I got in touch with the author before cutting into my boat. He had also had an external roller fitted but so far I declined to avoit the drag - also I am wary of just where to drill holes so would be interested to know if yours was a DIY job. Are you sure it is mild steel from what I can see mine looks more like cast iron.
I think I heard of one owner who replaced the original roller but how you get there has so far foxed me.
My Boat "Azurian" is at Lower Halstow on the Medway. Originally named Sea Trapper - I have a trapper brochure in which she is shown. Hull number unknown but presumably a very early one.
