Thanks John, All usefull stuff...This is the very start of my research into this subject so all thoughts are of interest. I'm not sure that I'm up to the complete rebuild of a second hand engine option. Yes it would be nice to end up with a bit more than 8hp, so the Yanmar 1GM is perhaps not the right choice. I thought the next size Yanmar was the 2GM at 18hp. What is the 2 gm 13 you refer to? What about the Beta engines? I understand that there is a 13hp version in their range.
