From the manual..
simultaneously press and hold "speed" and "total" until calibration factor is shown it takes several seconds to enter calibration mode. factory preset is 25. then each press of "speed" will increase the calibration by 1 representing a 1% increase in readings. Each press of "total" will decrease by 1%. to return to normal display press "trip". Speed and distance are calibrated simultaneously. The calibration factor is stored when powered off.
Now the difficult bit of finding no tide and matching it to the GPS
