You're getting a bit technical for me John. But yes, the entire engine and gearbox was replaced. The virtual difference in the cockpit was only in the thrust produced at higher revs, all control was as before, even to the degree of lever movement in forward and reverse - through neutral, including the clutch button in the lever center. Also, a 3-bladed prop replaced the original 2-bladed.

Somewhat off-thread but picking up on one of our previous exchanges, my Autohelm 1000 modification (moving further aft) was a complete success this year - it actually was able to steer well under sail, even with a wicked quarter swell that was slewing the ship when the wavefronts caught up with me during a boisterous reach back to Italy. I must admit it made me lazy as I hardly ever had to helm throughout the summer (http://homepage.hispeed.ch/bhny/trapper02a.html). Note that the ram stays engaged on the pin even at the tiller angle, ca. 45 degrees. No need for nasty metal brackets.
Anyway, thanks for your help in convincing me it was all feasible.

Best,

Brian.
