You are so right John, if it isn't a case of finding a correctly fitting replacement then it isn't worth considering. The forehatch frame is a massive and integral structure that is critical to the integrity of the cabin top stability. That is why I proposed modifying the present one because I have doubts about finding an exact replacement and building a frame to fit anything else is out of the question.

Yes, the curve is lateral and it does taper for'rad - no big deal to cut and paste, figuratively, some other panel.

Mine is indeed translucent-ish; the central area is the same fibreglass lay-up as the entire top but with no white pigment, so giving a brownish diffused light through it. Preferable, in my opinion, to waking up alongside a pier with a gaggle of trippers gazing down on you in the pit.

Is Sula sold yet, or are you working from memory?
