Hi Ted, we have a T500 with a fixed 3 blade driven from a Yanmar 1GM. We also have a changed rudder which will no longer reverse. I now leave my prop to run free after a long discussion during my Yacht master exam with the examiner who asked the question why?. He suggested that I was putting more strain on the gearbox and that the drag was so minimal as to be not noticeable. As a result we leave it free now.
Our 3 blade will give us up to 6.5knts under engine and we can and still reach hull speed under sail with the prop free. It is a tight fit and as a result I have yet been able to fit a rope cutter.

Happy Sailing
