Hi Henry & Mary,

Sorry to hear of your probs. My mast has same fouling of coach roof - discovered afterwards that a 'goal post' mast support ( has pivoting uprights and came with boat and fits into two tubular upstands like stanchion supports on transom) has two 20 inch extension tubes. Of course discovered these afterwards!

Three of us raised the mast ( onshore) using spinaker halliard suitably locked off. My boatyard man helping remarked on weight but this seems to be related to height of mast and ones position at transom when lifting ie: just below spreaders.

Brian's warning of damaging bottle screws is well made as the two outers didnt swing up and bent the lower threads. A piece of shock cord to the guard rail holding them clear would have prevented this.

I inherited a stainless steel tubular A frame but a prev owner had fitted massive plates in deck with lethal upstand eye. These removed and holes filled by last owner. May look at altering to take off toe rails. I dont have a bow roller so will prob work on 3 people to lower at season end.

Paul
