I originally had an autohelm 800, the old model and never had any problems with that ...well except for running downwind in a 6 with only the mainsail up, (a most unpleasant night!) but I couldnt really blame the autohelm for that, mid channel in a NE 6 just isnt a good place to be with a sea sick crew and only me to keep watch!

your gizmo seems to work much the same as a switched off autohem, and we know what Sula does with that!

too little to late means something needs adjusting in th autohelm on the 1000 you can adjust the resonse with the buttons , over correct, under correct etc, and the 800 was SUPPOSED to adjust itself to the sea state.

I like Dartmouth, but I go on the town key not the marina, also I think in you place Id have gone up on the beach without asking and when asked for £25 said ...so sue me!

as far as sailing under autohelm, yep definately, most of the time in fact, Dartmouth to Cherbourg(17 hrs) the autohelm went on as soon as I was out of Dartmouth and come of again by the west entrance to Cherbourg,
