Hi Dave, Sorry your boat fell through - was it the one at Deacons - I had a look but was not too sure about the single rope - Godfrey has already given a good reply - his rope on a 2:1 + 30:1 winch is so easy to use a child could do it. My wire on a 40:1 winch is easy when the worm drive is well greased. Takes 4 minutes of winding but usually this is 2 stints - haul it up half way going into shallows then all the way when tied up. I usually lash the tiller - Trapeze is so well behaved it sails itself with the tiller lashed - then go below and every half minute look out the hatch too see the world. Hasn't proved a problem even in crowded Solent & Portsmouth harbour.
My wire still seems perfect after 1 season and at £9.00 cheap enough to replace regularly.
I have a lock down bolt about 250mm from the cabin sole.
I have the original ram with new seals, the pump is still in the boat as I cannot reach the 2 (slack) bolts to remove it. The outer cover of the hose virtually dissintegrated when I moved it so was an accident waiting to happen. As Godfrey said - if the hose bursts the keel drops - how far nobody knows! The previous owner of Trapeze kept topping up the pump reservoir. I am still mopping hydraulic oil out of the bilges.
I have had Trapeze since April and have enjoyed it immensly - I am on a swinging mooring and intend to sail through the winter. Come and look if you like but I won't be selling for a long time.

Regards, Joe
