Ive been sailing Cbeagle2, 501, for 7 seasons now and am extremely please with the performance all round.
I will add my 2pennyworth on reefing, as I sail mainly single handed. On dropping the halyard, pull in the 1st reefing line, this forms a bag for the remainder of thesail to drop into and one quick tie will keep it under control till you have moored. This is also helped by the home made lazy jacks that I put up for around £7s worth of goood quality cordage, no drilling, just a few hard eyesplices.
I do get some leakage under the shroud plates, due to the dissintegration of the wood packing which the screws went into.I have now bolts through using penny washers.
I keep her in Dover marina at around £1800 all year, lifting out for a few weeks in the spring, for around £200.
I feel she is safer in the water in the winter, and you never know, there may be a sailable weekend.

Very interesting forum which I try to check weekly.
