Did you realise the Parish Council are keen to develop the green belt field next to Brook House Station Road to provide all day, every day parking for commuters, to alleviate casual parking by rail users in Station Rd itself? These fields belong to Lingfield Park Racecourse and some (or all) are used on racedays for a couple of hours by road travelling punters. They are green fields and unsurfaced. They are also mentioned in the Lingfield Village Design Statement (2007)as a valuable break between Dormansland and Lingfield and between the racecourse and the village and they are EA Flood Zones 2 & 3 for the Edenbrook. The TDC are opposed to development in green belt and the PC allege they want to defend our green belt but not the bits they want to develop themselves! Surely it is for Network Rail to provide parking for their users on under-utilised areas of their existing carpark - not the PC.NR should also be encourage to have designated spaces for commuters who pay in advance. The plan is to extend yellow lining if they get permission. This will mean increased traffic speed and no street parking for residents. As Lingfield is a rural area, not urban, TDC do not organise residents parking permits. Don't expect LPR to foot the bill - they have other priorities and never forget that Arena Leisure (who own Lingfield Park) are property developers not philanthropists. If you are worried about loss of green belt, using taxpayers money for the benefit of non-area parkers, flooding (surface & water table levels) loss of on-street parking, increased speed and usage of SR then PLEASE let the PC know your views.
