Definitely agree with Michael - replace it rather than worry. Although it's always a good idea to check rigging at the start of a season, replacing rigging every 10-15 years has got to be a good idea - it takes alot of load and the last thing you want is to get caught out in a Force 7+ by mistake and start worrying if your 20 year old rigging is going to hold.
We replaced all our standing rigging in Spring 2005(this was voluntary as intended anyway but I think the marine survey might also have required it). We didn't do anything ourselves - the chandler by our yacht club came along to the boat and did everything for us - fitting and everything (although the backstays were too slack so we've had to tighten these - he probably measured it from old rigging, which of course stretches over time). The cost was a little over £200, but we justify this cost on the basis that our boat provides our holiday each year and we'd spend that easily on a package holiday. It was also worth it for the peace of mind everytime the wind gets up!
