Subject: time to recuperate

i had a bilateral laparoscopy-assisted vaginal radical hysterectomy on 8/18/06. my doctor and his office are telling me that the length of time to be off work is 1-2 weeks. i am not healed well enought to go back to work as i am tired, achy and still have bowel troubles and gas pain. none of my friends in the medical field have ever heard of returning to work that soon after this procedure...especially considering that i am 50 years old, was "under" for 4 1/2 hours which is over twice the usual 2-hour surgery time and am not feeling well enough to return already. i need some help. please
