Subject: Are UTI's common after a hysterectomy?

Hi all. Hope everyone who have had there surgerys this week are doing ok. My recovery from my abdominal hysterectomy has been slow since I have had a urinary tract infection that has been there since my surgery. The catheter they put on me before surgery also irritated my bladder so now I have a bad infection going on. So I am on 2 different antibiotics along with urispas for the bladder spasms that I have been having. My gyn says these things happen and to be patient with it.It's been 2 weeks yesterday since my surgery. I got my stiches taken out and my scar doesn't look to bad it healed beautifully. Now I hope my UTI will do the same. Did any of you all have the same thing happen to you after surgery? Are UTI's common after surgery?
