Hi Karly,
My experience with abdominal was this.
When you wake, you will be drowsy, after a while you feel more alert and ready to see people.
Take it slow the first day though.
You will more than likely have a catheter in and a drip via which you can self administer your pain meds if needed. You just push a button and you get a dose of pain relief. Although don't let that worry you, the pain is not too bad.

The 2nd day ( if not the first night) they will get you out of bed for a shower and a bit of movement. It's good for you and gets your land legs back.

Each day after surgery, you will be feeling so much better and walking around the hospital.
Once home....

Take it easy, have someone there to do chores and cooking.
Rest each day and don't try doing too much, little walks, gradually builiding up to more. Don't strain the abdominal area. ie...pushing, pulling. lifting....all No No's.
You may have an odd sensation after a few days when urinating, this is normal.
some spotting and discharge is also normal, so take some pads to hospital.
Recovery is like a c section.......6 weeks before intercourse resumes, (ask for doctors all clear first). You will have your 6 week check up, then be given advice on what you can and can't do. SOme twinges and pains are normal, especially if you try doing too much, that's why we stress,,,REST REST REST~~~~
I hope this helps.
all the best with surgery, and we are here to support you through your recovery also.
Jill
