Subject: Ready for duty

Gentlemen:

The surgery to correct problems with the toe I broke at Shiloh was successful. A new metal knuckle joint was installed replacing the one I was born with 55+ years ago. The swelling is down and I can again march.

I look forward to rejoining the ranks as we honor those who served before.
