My apologies to all the gentlemen, if I have failed to list your rank and your affiliation status. I am working to compile a complete register of our members, with the proper rank and affiliation connections as we perform our Memorials and headstone dedications. All mistakes are my own and your forbearance is appreciated.

A beautiful April day, was the setting at the Keenan Historical Cemetery. The lovely Ladies of the UDV, under the direction of Ms. Selma Goswick, presented a beautiful and moving Memorial Ceremonial tribute to the roll of Confederate sons who are interred in this peaceful historical resting place. The 5 flags of tribute were correctly displayed, as well a five memorial wreaths. 2nd Lieutenant Furlow, was able and militarily correct in command, of the task set before him. The Rifle Guard was comprised of members of various units, however they performed the military honors of the rifle team with a precision and skill rarely witnessed in
Period correct (1860’s) performance. After the reading of historical documentation and presentation of various citations by Ms. Goswick, of which the OCG received recognition from the UDC chapter. The OCGLS presented two black roses at the foot of the 5 memorial wreaths and paid honor, respect and service, to the Confederate veterans interred there, on be-half of the OCG and the OCGLS. The Rifle Team then presented Military Honors to the Confederate veterans. The first volley rendered had a few late percussions, the second volley was exactly performed as almost a single shot, and the third volley rendered, rolled across the Dallas countryside, as the sound fired from a twelve pounder cannon. It was truly an awesome experience. The wonderful ladies of the UDC provided a sweet repast of cookies, punch and iced tea. I would like to thank the ladies of the OCGLS that were present, Judy Bennett and Bethanie Allen. Special thanks to Dale Barrett, Vicky Barrett, Levi Barrett, Dylan Barrett, and Ms. Hailey Barrett, granddaughter (7 months) for coming all the way from Whitesboro, TX. to lend authenticity and period correctness to our cause.

To Honor and Serve,
Tom Bennett Adj./Color Corporal
