Subject: Texas Confederate Heroes Day

This Sunday, January 19th, there will be a ceremony in McKinney, Texas, honoring our Texas Confederate ancestors. A maximum effort is needed. This will be a two-part ceremony, beginning at 1:00 PM. We will meet in McKinney at the Chapel at Chestnut Square. You need to be there about noon if possible. The chapel is located at the intersection of McDonald St. (Highway 5) and Chestnut St. Following a brief ceremony in the chapel, we will adjourn to Pecan Grove Cemetery, a short distance away, at the intersection of Highway 5 and Industrial Blvd. The main entrance is off Highway 5. There is a large Confederate marker at that corner of the cemetery. The remainder of the ceremony will be held around that monument. Colors will be posted around the monument prior to the ceremony.

There will be some readings by UDC, SCV, and Confederate Gray members. The ceremony will conclude with a rifle salute, so be sure and bring some paper cartridges with you.
