This is a Message board dedicated to friends and fans of Billy Hill & the Hillbillies and it's various sub groups and Disneyland in general. Please keep your posts about these general areas.   Hey guys I had an idea for the message board. I think that Kat and Jan are the moderators, so this is especially directed towards them...
  
  We have increasingly had a problem with being spammed or having negative posts put up on our message board. I think this is a great board and it has been going strong for many years so I hate to see people messing with it. I was thinking that since the majority of the posters are the same usual group of people, that perhaps all of us, or at least several more could be given administrative privledges so that the board could be policed more regularly against negativity. Of course, I don't mean that anyone's post should be censored or that people should go crazy sabatoging each other, but that all the porn spam and negative anonymous posts we've gotten could be deleted more quickly, especially if there are youngsters coming to the message board. I really want this to be a positive place for us all to admire our guys!
  
  So hopefully this isn't TOO farfetched of an idea. Let me know what you think (especially Kat and Jan) and have a super disney day!

  Just wanted to report that I wore my new Billies t-shirt to the show two weekends ago and Kirk pointed to me and mouthed: "love the shirt." What a thrill! Got to see Kirk and the boys three days in a row. The crowd was on fire on the Saturday and I had a great vantage point from the balcony. I just love to witness that amazing synergy between the boys and the crowd. I hope they can feel that from the stage! I have to say, Kirks verbal riffs between numbers are so exciting - you never know where he'll go and how he'll manage to pull it all back to the intro for the next number. I especially enjoy when he gets lost on a tangent and manages to wrangle his way back on topic! It's gonna be a while before I get back down to d-land, so I'm glad I got a good Billy fix to hold me over :).

  Scott Gates, founder of the Pacific Ocean Bluegrass Band and a mandolin phenomenon, hails from California’s High Desert. He plays mandolin, guitar, bass, ukulele and sings in POB.   Victor Skidanenko from Santa Clara County, was born and raised around classic country music. Victor began playing bluegrass music and thus slid into first when Pacific Ocean Bluegrass found themselves with a need for speed! Victor plays Reno-style banjo, flatpick guitar, mandolin, and sings.
  
  Paul Davis is our flat pick guitar player and hails from Santa Cruz California. After sitting in on a show in Magalia/Grass Valley '06, he was unanimously accepted as a full time member based upon his skills with the flat pick and his great ensemble playing.

  Hi Billy friends, it’s been awhile, hasn’t it? Well, it’s time to announce my next play.
  
  What happens after happily ever after? That is the idea behind Stephen Sondheim’s and James Lapine’s musical “Into The Woods.” A Baker and his wife are unable to have children, due to a spell placed on their house, by a witch. To lift the spell, the Baker must acquire a cow as white as milk, a cape as red as blood, a hair as yellow as corn, and a slipper as pure as gold. Fortunately, Jack, Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel, and Cinderella live nearby. While the Baker and his wife try to get the items, the others attempt to do all the things you’ve heard about all your lives, selfishly avoiding each other whenever possible. After all the stories reach their expected conclusions, and everybody seems ready to live happily ever after, they are faced with the consequences of their actions – but, that’s act II; and, you’ll have to watch, to find out what happens. I play the Narrator, who ties the stories and the scenes together. Yes, I am on-stage, and involved in some of the action; I’m not just an off-stage voice.
  
  “Into The Woods” runs March 16-18, 23-25; Fridays and Saturdays @ 8pm, and Sundays @2pm.

  Spring break is here and both parks where packed yesterday. Talking to a friend cast member, she said that it will probably be very crowded till about the middle of April.   Many Billy fans already know the joy of hearing the Miners' bluegrass music in DCA and will even join in occasionally by singing, dancing or playing the washboard. (Washboard??! Don't knock it 'til you've scraped it.)
  Some of our favorite Billys "also" play at Grizzly Peak Thursday through Monday, joining Miners Eureka Eric and Smiling Bob under what could only be assumed (i.e. non-Billy) names.
  [Rumer has it that Billy Banjo & Billy Bow masquerade as "Whistlin' Rick" & "Grizzly Anders" on Thursdays/Fridays and Billy subs John Plotnik & Dave Eastly appear Saturdays through Mondays as "John-John" & "Dave Eastly" (sui generis). Other Billy sightings include Billy Barney or Billy Red as "Jed" and Billy John D as either "Lightning Jack" or "Lucky Jack", depending on whom you ask (and how thirsty that person may be).]
  These gentlemen produce 6 shows a day where the pickin' is hot and the harmonies are tight. So, next time you visit the 'Shoe, why not "also" mosey over to Grizzly Peak and pan for gold?

  So, am I to understand that Kirk only plays Sundays and Mondays?? How distressing. Guess I haven't been paying attention. Can anyone tell me why this is such a rare treat these days? Is he working more elsewhere? If so, how can one get their Kirk fix outside of D-land? I live in San Francisco, so I don't get to LA that often, but I'd make an effort to seek Kirk out if he plays somewhere else regularly. Also, can someone reassure me that the Billy's are going to continue to play the shoe for the foreseeable future? Kirk takes a moment during every show to thank the fans and it sounds like a farewell tour kinda thing. I get nervous, you know, that I'll show up one day and they'll simply be gone.   If you were in the 'Shoe last Friday (12/15), you saw that John Marshall was not playing that day, as he usually does. It turns out that Billy and the Hillbillies had a special gig that afternoon - they played at the holiday party of Mazda North American Operations; and, as it happens, that's where I work. Yes, the boys played at my work's party on Friday. It was John, Evan, Arshag, and Cody (who I met for the first time that day). And, it wasn't even me who arranged it! A co-worker, who has seen them at the 'Shoe, tracked them down and booked them.
  
  Evan was the front man for most of the show, with John and Arshag doing bits here and there. The show was an hour long, and we got to see and hear lots of the old classics (Hamilton County, Billy Tell overture, and Puddle Prance, just to name a few), and a few new things (new to me, anyway)(such as, Arshag's version of Lee Greenwood's "God Bless the USA"). And, I got a chance to visit with the boys before and after the show. Ahhh, what a day.

  Evan Marshall, Former Billy Mandolin, will bring to you his expert duo-style solo mandolin performance and show you how it works by playing the finale of the William Tell Overture, the orchestral score, on solo mandolin. You have to see it to believe it. You can see it with your own eyes, and hear it with your own ears, and still not believe it!
  
  Scott Gates, age 14 and Evan's student and friend, will join him for a tune or two.
  
  After the break, Scott Gates and Friends will take the stage to bring you bluegrass and country in a band of excellent musicians you’ve never seen together before. Scott brings in close friend Mike Nadolson , former National Flatpick Guitar Champion and leader of the Silverado Bluegrass Band; Kevin Gore on banjo, a member of the Witcher Brothers and much sought after studio musician; and Andrew Paddock on bass, also from the Witcher Brothers. Evan will join this band near the end of the set, to dazzle you again, this time with his fiddle.
