Subject: Billy In Training, Scott Gates on The Ellen Show Memorial Day

I don't know how much, if any we'll see of him, but Scott Gates (remember Billy in Training?) will be playing mandolin in the band backing Steve Martin on the Ellen DeGeneres show on Memorial Day. That's Monday, 5/25. I believe the show is on at 4:00 on the west coast.

Scott; who actually does appear with Billy and the Hillbillies outside of Disneyland sometimes; is 16 now, but was about seven when he started studying mandolin with Evan(formerly Mandolin Billy) Marshall.

Oh, and yes, it's THE Steve Martin, comedian, promoting his new banjo CD. From the little clip I saw online, it looks like Scott is on the far left behind Steve Martin on the show.

I missed the show so thanks for posting this. He had a nice little solo part there but he was so far to left that most of the time the camera didn't pick him up in the group shots. What fun for him.
