Subject: 6 week closure of the Golden Horsehoe

Just a heads up for all the Billy fans out there. The Golden Horsehoe will be going down for a revamping and re-modeling May 15 to June 15 2006. Since I work in operations I know this for a fact. The facility will be turned into a different eating venue. Since more guests were requesting more ice cream, not odv carts the Golden Horseshoe will be serving ice cream sundaes and other such fair to be determined. I do not know what entertainment has in store for the stage area. Many ideas are being tosed about.One such idea is to put Laughing Stock in there as they have become very very very popular with the guests. Since all entertimnent contracts are now being looked at rather closely by the Bob I & John L.., the Billy group many be released from contract much like the Dapper Dans are now. Whos last day will be March 25th. I will let you know more as the story continues. (Please print this so others may be aware of what is happening. Thank u )

I love the Laughingstock Company, too, but do they (Disney) know how much more popular the Billys are? They have fans that come from all over the country just to see them. The only reason the place isn't packed out to overflowing each show is because many people don't realize there's a show even going on in there, and many of us don't say anything because we want seats. :) Major Bummer!! And the Dapper Dans . . . they're so fun to watch and great barbershop harmony. Sigh! I'm so grateful for these dates so I can be prepared!! :) For me the biggest question is . . . do the Billys want out of their contract. If so, I would be the last to wish someting on them they didn't want.

I talked to the guys about this post and here is what they told me.....

The guys themselves themselves have no idea when or if this will ever really happen. Nothing at Disney is set in stone or lasts forever. These same rumors surfaced a couple of years ago before the 50th aniversary, but Disney changed their minds. Than last September, the Golden Horseshoe was suppose to close for rehab and that was postponed... than they heard it would be December... than they heard March for 6 weeks... lately they have been hearing May through June for 4 weeks.... shortly after that, they heard maybe it will be this September again.

So far they have been told that the Horseshoe will possibly close for 4 weeks starting May 15th. They have been told they will probably be moved outside during that time. There are NO plans [at this time] to remove the Billys from the Horseshoe after it reopens.

I think its a shame that the person who posted this didn't put your name to your post.... But on that note... putting up a message like this starts panic among fans. These men have families who depend on their income and spreading panic rumors does not exactly help them in their situations.

On a side note: The guys don't have contracts.

My point being that the fans on this board LOVE the Billys. That's why it's called Da Billy Board. We hope that the Billies will never leave the Golden Horseshoe, or Frontierland or even Disneyland, but no one knows 100% until it actually happens. Please don't panic yet from this posting, as it is just hearsay from an UNKNOWN poster!

When I read the original message, my heart just about broke. The Billys are my favorite DL attraction and I would be extremely sad to see them go. Yes, Laughing Stock is popular, and I love them too, but they're not as popular as the Billys.

On a side note, I'd prefer to keep the menu as it is in the Golden Horseshoe.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see. I was tentatively planning another trip in May, alone, and with this news and the possibilities, it makes me want to go ahead with it, if possible. :) I can't imagine DL without the Billys!!

I had been tentatively planning a trip alone for May, and this news doubles my resolve to try and work it out, just in case!! :)
